Confirmations, reminders & follow-ups

Updated 2026-09-30 · 2 min read

Lorenly emails your clients automatically at the right moments, so nobody has to chase anyone by hand. One page decides what is sent: Settings → Notifications.

The master switches#

At the top, Master toggles turn whole channels on or off:

  • Customer email reminders: confirmations and reminders by email.
  • Customer SMS reminders: texts to clients, see Set up SMS reminders.
  • Track outstanding balances per booking: needed for the outstanding balance reminder.

Automatic messages#

The Automatic messages section lists every email and SMS sent on your behalf, in groups: Bookings, Reminders, Payments, purchases and memberships, Follow-ups and programs and Team and owner.

  1. Find the message, for example Booking confirmation, Booking moved, Booking cancelled, Appointment reminders, Review request or Rebooking reminder.
  2. Switch its Email or SMS column on or off.
  3. Each row also shows the Template it uses (or Default for the built-in text). Choose Open Templates to change the wording, see Customize message templates & designs.

This page is the only on/off switch. A template decides the words, never whether the message goes out. If you run several locations, the switches apply to the location you are working in.

Scheduled messages#

Reminders and other timed messages (for example 24 hours and 1 hour before the appointment, a birthday greeting or a package expiry reminder) appear under Scheduled with their timing. Each one is switched on or off separately.

An optional follow-up can be sent when a booking is released because its deposit was not paid in time. It starts off; create or edit it in Templates with the Unpaid deposit expiry timing and a delay in minutes, then switch it on here.

Test before going live#

The Test list holds your own email addresses and phone numbers. Test sends only go to these addresses. They also keep receiving messages even when a master switch is off, which is handy for checking everything yourself.

Where to see what was sent#

Every message sent to a client is recorded on the Communications page.
