PsyQ’s transcultural psychiatry department treats and supports adults from diverse cultural backgrounds who have mental health problems. The department is based in Nijmegen and takes a person’s cultural background into account.

Who it is for

The department is for adults from diverse cultural backgrounds who have mental health problems. People who do not speak Dutch very well are also welcome.

Treatment

Together with the practitioner, clients consider which treatment is suitable. Treatment can take place individually, through family conversations, in a group or online.

Approach

The department takes a culturally sensitive approach and considers cultural background, religious beliefs and the person’s own explanation of their symptoms. Professional interpreters make treatment in any language possible.
