About Tandheelkundige dierenarts E.J. de Boer in Utrecht

Dierengebit is an initiative by the veterinary dentists at Dierenkliniek Wilhelminapark in Utrecht. The practice treats dental problems in pets, including rabbits and guinea pigs.

Dental treatments

For guinea pigs, the veterinarians shorten overgrown cheek teeth by filing them and, if needed, clipping them. The treatment is carried out under sedation; a check-up follows after four weeks.

• Filing cheek teeth
• Clipping cheek teeth
• Dental treatment for a guinea pig
• Check-up after dental treatment

How we work

For treatment, the veterinarians use, among other things, magnifying glasses, an endoscope and a dental drill. After treatment, assisted feeding may be needed until the guinea pig eats independently again.

• Tailored anaesthesia with injectable anaesthesia and sometimes gas anaesthesia
• Heated oxygen cages for waking up
• Aftercare with assisted feeding and softened pellets
