Karakter is an academic specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry with a location in Nijmegen. It provides assessment, advice and treatment to children and young people with mental health problems, together with their family and network.

Assessment and advice

Karakter investigates the problems affecting the child and family, then discusses its advice. This may be treatment at Karakter, help from another organisation, or collaboration with an organisation already providing care to the child.

Treatment is tailored to what the child and family need. Sessions and exercises can take place individually, with parents, with the family or in a group.

Children and young people aged 0 to 18 from across the Netherlands can receive care at Karakter. The organisation has locations in Gelderland, Overijssel, Noord-Brabant and Limburg.
