About Expertisecentrum Trauma & Verlies

Expertisecentrum Trauma & Verlies is an independent psychology practice in Groningen. The practice provides basic and specialist mental health care for complaints related to traumatic experiences and traumatic loss.

Treatments are tailored to the individual and usually take place one-to-one. Group participation is possible for some types of therapy.

Complaints and client group

The practice treats adults with complaints following trauma or intense experiences of loss, including post-traumatic stress, anxiety or panic complaints, and complicated grief.

Approach

After a referral from the GP, an intake takes place to discuss complaints and background. The client and therapist then draw up a treatment plan together; sessions are usually weekly or once every two weeks.

Research and continuing education

The practice regularly takes continuing education courses in grief and trauma and works with the outpatient clinic of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen on scientific research into treatments for traumatic loss.
