About Centrum Verstandelijke Beperking en Psychiatrie

The Centrum Verstandelijke Beperking en Psychiatrie (CVBP) (Centre for Intellectual Disability and Psychiatry) provides specialist support to children, young people and adults with an intellectual disability and mental health problems. Care consists of assessments and appointments at the outpatient clinic and, sometimes, admission to the clinic.

The CVBP focuses on people with an intellectual disability and mental health problems. Family and other close contacts can attend appointments and are involved in treatment.

Assessment and treatment

After referral, registration, an intake and diagnostic assessment follow. The client and practitioners then draw up a treatment plan together; care can take place on an outpatient or inpatient basis.

A referral from a doctor or GP is needed for support. For children under 18, an authorization from the municipality is also required.
