About Jellinek

Jellinek provides temporary dental care through the Centre for Special Dental Care (CBT) in Amsterdam for adults with dental problems that developed during or after a serious addiction. Treatment is tailored to the patient's situation and is intended to restore oral health so that further care can take place with a regular dentist.

Who it is for

CBT Jellinek treats adults with dental problems related to a serious addiction to hard drugs, alcohol or medication. A referral from addiction care is required; during the intake, the dentist assesses whether there is an indication for treatment at the centre.

Treatments

The centre offers a one-off urgent pain treatment or denture appointments, as well as extensive dental treatment. Basic treatments may include extractions, fillings, tartar removal and making dentures.

How it works

After registration, there is an intake during which the dentist discusses the mouth, health and complaints. If treatment is indicated, a treatment plan is drawn up; treatment is temporary and concludes with further care from a regular dentist.

Registration and pain complaints

Registration is arranged through a referring professional. For acute pain, the referrer can request a one-off treatment; there is a waiting list for extensive treatment.

• Registration by a GP subject to conditions, FACT team, Leger des Heils, GGD (Dutch municipal health service) or GGZ institution (Dutch mental health care institution)
