Shiatsu treatment

A treatment begins with an initial consultation and usually a diagnosis. Shiatsu is given using pressure, touch, stretches and manipulations; the client remains clothed and lies or sits on a futon or massage table.

Practical information

The first appointment lasts about an hour and a half; follow-up treatments last an hour. After the treatment, the practice may provide Do In exercises or other advice.

• Wear loose clothing, preferably with long sleeves and long legs
• Drink plenty of water after the treatment
• Avoid strenuous activity after the treatment

Reimbursement and payment

Shiatsu may be reimbursed under supplementary insurance. The reimbursement depends on the insurance package; treatments do not count towards the excess.
