Kinderpraktijk Het Kasteel

About Kinderpraktijk Het Kasteel

Kinderpraktijk Het Kasteel is a practice for play therapy in Alphen aan den Rijn. The practice offers children a safe place to tell their story through play and receive help.

Play therapy

Play therapy is mainly used for children aged four to twelve. The child is central, and play helps them express experiences and feelings.

• Play therapy for traumatic experiences
• Play therapy for emotional problems
• Play therapy for social problems

Approach

Therapy takes place in a playroom with toys and materials for expression. The play therapist follows the child in their play, puts what is happening into words and responds to the child’s initiatives.

• Dress-up clothes
• Board games
• Sand and water table
• Dolls, animals and vehicles
• Drawing and craft materials

Cooperation

Good cooperation with the parent(s) or caregiver(s) is key to how the therapy progresses. In client-centred play therapy, the child is central, not the problem.

About the therapist

Elise Plas worked for almost twenty years in primary education as a teacher in the lower grades before becoming a play therapist.
