Approach

During an intake for therapeutic shiatsu, the therapist asks questions, looks at the tongue and feels the pulse and hara (abdomen). A treatment plan follows; if needed, additional techniques and home exercises or dietary tips are used.

• Shiatsu is given through clothing; comfortable, non-restrictive clothing is recommended.
• The first treatment takes about an hour and fifteen minutes, including the intake.
• Follow-up treatments take about one hour, including the discussion.
