Karin Schalken

About Karin Schalken

Karin Schalken offers guidance and enrichment for dogs in Hank. She provides puppy guidance and stress processing therapy, including EMDR for dogs and exposure therapy.

Puppy guidance

Individual guidance can begin even before the puppy comes home.

Stress processing

Karin supports dogs with stress, fear and behavioural problems. EMDR therapy is combined with exposure therapy; the approach is tailored to the dog and its reactions.

• EMDR for dogs
• Exposure therapy
• Support with fear of sounds, such as fireworks and thunder
• Support with lunging at dogs, people or traffic
• Support with separation anxiety
• Support with travel sickness
• Support with other types of fear and stress

Approach

In exposure therapy, the dog is gradually and in a controlled way exposed to the sounds of fireworks. Karin discusses with the owner how the dog reacts between sessions and which next steps are appropriate.

Sniffing meadow

Karin works from an enclosed site in Hank that also functions as a sniffing garden.
