De Rijdende Psycholoog is a psychological support practice in Hallum, Friesland. Treatment takes place in a camper van, at clients’ homes or while walking; consultations are also available by phone or video call.

Psychological support

The practice offers short-term psychological support within the Basic Mental Healthcare system (Basis GGZ) to adults aged 18 and over. Support addresses issues including anxiety, trauma, low mood, loss, stress and problems with work or study.

The practice uses different forms of psychological treatment that have been shown to be effective in scientific research. An intake includes an introduction, clarification of complaints, diagnostic assessment and discussion of the help requested.

Approach and location

The practice is based in a comfortable camper van and appointments are generally held at the base location in Hallum. Home visits are possible when indicated within 25 kilometres; treatment is also available by phone or video call.

Faith and treatment

At the intake, clients are asked whether they want to actively include the Christian faith. This is not required; prayer or Bible reading can be included on request.

Practical information

The practice is open Monday to Thursday from 9.00 to 18.00. The intake usually lasts 90 minutes.
